Puppies Training & Socialisation

Manners 'n' More Companion Dog Training offers courses that handle behaviours like biting and socialisation. Our puppy training sessions provide an educational venue for puppies to play–fight and play-bite with other dogs. This helps them develop confidence and social skills for better interaction with people, most especially children and men.

We can teach you how to control your dog’s body position, activity, and location. It is ideal to teach pets while they are still young, because this is the stage they become easier, quicker, and more enjoyable to train. We offer modern psychological, dog-friendly, and owner-friendly training methods, off-leash control, and hand-signals for puppies that are just three months old.
We tackle behaviour modification for improved puppy socialisation. We teach this along with puppy biting.  We know that the temperaments of dogs need to be modified to suit the owners' lifestyle.

We understand that all dogs are unique. Some dogs lack confidence, whereas others are pushy. Some are sluggish and others are too active. Some are shy, reserved, standoffish, asocial, or antisocial, while others are overly friendly and rowdy. Most of the time, people tend to forget that a domestic dog is not fully domesticated until adequately trained. You must desensitize your puppy to potential threatening situation including petting, handling, hugging, and restraint, especially by children, men, and strangers.

Bite Inhibition

Bite inhibition is an important quality in any companion animal, and your pet must acquire this during puppyhood. Learning proper puppy biting is the most important item on your pet’s educational agenda. Bite inhibition is a fail-safe mechanism that prevents them from injuring other animals and people.

A dog with good bite inhibition would only yelp, growl, or snap, causing little if any injury. The prognosis is good since the problem may be resolved easily and safely with increased socialization and classical conditioning. A dog who did not acquire bite inhibition as a puppy, however, might inflict deep puncture wounds and cause serious injury.

Puppy training, and later, off-leash dog parks, offer the best venues for your pet to learn solid bite inhibition and develop a soft mouth. Enrol in a puppy class right away. Call us at 0415 136 777 to register for an upcoming training.
